Our  Supermotard Classes

Modern Supermoto is a cross between motocross and road racing. Races are commonly held on road or medium sized go-kart tracks with an off-road section in the the infield . Most Supermoto race tracks have a tarmac component of 50-75% and the remaining percentage of the course is dirt. The dirt sections are usually constructed of deco and feature motocross style obstacles like bermed corners and jumps.

Unlike conventional road racing the emphasis lies on slower speeds , typically less than 160km/h  , on short technical tracks where rider skill matters more than out right machine performance.

The motorcycles used are frequently custom created combinations of off-road motorcycles and road-racing wheels/tires,known as Supermotard bikes .

Riders wear a combination of road race and offroad equipment ,normally road racing leathers and motocross helmets and boots.

The motorcycles currently used for Supermoto racing are predominantly single cylinder four-stroke powered dirtbikes with 17-inch wheels with road racing slick tyres .Suspension is lowered and slightly stiffened and to improve braking power oversized front brakes are fitted .

The Whitsunday Raceway will be one off 3 tracks deigned for the sport in Queensland  .Riders from the Whitsunday Moto Sport Club race all over the state competing in the sport . Spectacular sideways action is the hallmark of this exciting sport , accompanied by the thunderous roar of big four stroke engines as up to 24 competitors attempt to stuff their machines into the first corner.
